Good Times, Great Beer: O’Connoroo 2015
This past weekend Billy and I experienced a really fun event in Norfolk, VA called O’Connoroo 2015.
A local brewery called O’Connor’s threw this amazing festival that was two days long!
They highlighted a ton of their beers on draught, and there were food trucks parked in the brewery lot so everyone could enjoy a variety of different options food-wise.
I indulged in a sweet potato biscuit topped with pulled pork and apple slaw from the Lucky Peach Food Truck. Talk about delicious!
The brewery itself was open and packed with people. Beer lovers were socializing, drinking, laughing, and enjoying the great weather, good company, and fun times.
I tried a few beers and I have to say the Bourbon Barrel Aged Robust Porter, which was a limited edition beer they featured, was absolutely amazing! I am so glad I got to try it. Talk about an awesome beer. It was different and layered in flavor and was a solid 8.5% alcohol content — wow!
A few facts about the Bourbon Barrel Aged Robust Porter from their Facebook page:
Alc by Vol: 8.5%
Vol: 22 fl oz (650 ml)
Tasting Notes: A classic porter meets the warm embrace of a whiskey barrel. The result is a rapturously dark and inviting brew with notes of vanilla, caramel and cocoa, plus, a hint of coffee.
O’Connoroo 2015 was great and I really hope they have it again next year! O’Connor Brewery features a ton of events all year round, so check out their website for more info!
