4 Ways to Show Your Personal Style in your Kitchen Design
How to show your own Personal Style!
Guest Contribution: Emma Sturgis
These days, kitchen designs almost come in similar modules and limited selections. Finishes are easily selected from a specific range and price tier, making it hard to truly incorporate your own personal style. Although there’s a spectrum of choices out there, somehow, we still find it difficult to pick up something that can be said as a personal statement. We understand how hard it is to make these choices that’s why we round up some ideas you’d like to consider:
Paint & Cabinetry
One of the easiest items to instantly see in a kitchen are your cupboards, thus they’re also the easiest accent you can make. Just a smear of new paint on an old cupboard can have a noticeable impact to a space. If paint is not your to go thing, you can always use veneer, or wood among other options.
Counter the Drab
Often the most noticeable feature of a kitchen aside from the cabinets are the kitchen counters. Aside from our common options -granite, solid surface or stone, there are also other ways to make a statement. Among those options are DIY countertops such as surface treated butcher blocks, or poured over concrete countertops. But if DIY is not in your vocabulary, choosing an exotic grain of marble or colored resin counter can do the trick as well.
Splash It Back to Life
Whether a fancy a graphic pattern, a mosaic treatment or just plain old tiles, your kitchen splashback is a perfect canvas to show off your personal taste. Aside from back painted glass or decorative tiles, you can also include exotic marble to splash drama into your kitchen space. You can never go wrong with using a splashback to offset the muted tones of your kitchen -then add lighting to cap off the drama.
Pulls and Knobs
Subtle details can truly make or break a space -it can also a key to introduce your own style too. Whether you opt for pieces picked up in vintage shops, a small knob, pull and even the faucet can give your whole space a different feel. From chrome finished faucet to Parisian chic brass fittings, there’s a lot of options that you can explore.
Aside from these kitchen features that can help you arrive on a style of your own, you can also make unique interventions with your kitchen accessories. From quirky and colorful, to traditional and futuristic, modern tools for the kitchen are constantly evolving, so it is a good idea to try and try things until you get to the perfect match that speaks your style.
