New York City Food Experience
The food experience in the New York City
The sounds of horns blare through the streets, and the sidewalks are worn in by the constant foot traffic, welcome to New York City.
Googling restaurants in New York City can be incredibly overwhelming, where to start? What is worth the cost? How do you honestly navigate the food scene of New York City?
If you are not native to the city that doesn’t mean you can’t have an authentic New York food experience.
Where to look for great eats…
Stop googling and start reading really good food blogs. Chefs and well-established food bloggers are happy to share their experiences with you.
Hidden gems will surprise you with amazing tastes, textures, and even cost; not all food experiences have to be expensive.
Treat yourself. New York City is filled with delicious treats and amazing cocktails. Have fun, and explore.
I recently treated myself to a famous “Milk Bar” birthday cake and a cereal milk latte. The naked birthday cake is quoted by milk bar in being everyone’s favorite childhood cake, re-imagined milk bar style! It is a vanilla rainbow cake layered with rainbow cake crumbs, topped with vanilla frosting!
Fun fact: it took Christina Tosi and the milk bar team more than three years’ worth of recipe testing to get that perfect birthday cake vanilla flavor! She is an incredibly passionate pastry chef with an unbelievable sweet tooth!
Liquor Infused Ice cream…I think yes!
In Hells Kitchen, you will also find a great ice cream spot with a concept all their own Tipsy Scoop. No wonder they usually have a line out the door, their liquor-infused ice cream is worth the wait! It is incredibly delicious, playful, and may just get you a little buzzed.
Have fun and be spontaneous for cheap.
Take a nice walk over the Brooklyn bridge, head to Smorgasbord in Williamsburg for some fun cheap eats, or walk through China Town and grab a plate of dumplings!
If you are looking for something specific, dig deeper, follow chefs online who specialize in what you would like to try, then seek out their recommendations. It was recently my birthday, and I wanted authentic dumplings, so I sought out insider foods to help me find this hidden gem, Shu Jiao Fuzhouese Cuisine! It is cash only spot, very small, cheap, and was one of my favorites while visiting New York City. The pork and chive dumplings were perfectly filled and steamed and felt like silk. The wheat noodles covered in a homemade peanut sauce came out steaming hot and the portion size was enough to feed two people comfortably.
New York is a foodies paradise. It is a place I drooled over for years, I feel I have only scratched the surface, and cant wait to venture back!

Yummy!! I loved those noodles!
