A Very Kitchenability Wedding: The Proposal + Planning
As many of you know, I got engaged over the holidays!
The story of our engagement is pretty cute:
My now fiance Billy and I started dating 6 1/2 years ago. And for Christmas, Billy gave me an empty jewelry box! Now, after being with someone for 6 1/2 years and then receiving an empty jewelry box… you can imagine my surprise, and confusion. I was not happy!
For about a week he messed with me. Then, one night I decided to head to the gym and workout. When I came home, Billy was there dressed in a suit with a red bow tie. He was cooking me a pasta dinner and there were lit candles on the table. After some great dinner conversation and a glass of wine, I went in for seconds, to get a little more pasta, and when I turned around he was on one knee holding the jewelry box… and this time the ring was in it!
His proposal: “I don’t want to be an empty jewelry box anymore. Will you marry me?” I cried and it was perfect!
So, now I am in full wedding planning mode. It has been quite the adventure so far learning a thing or two about how the wedding industry ticks, from choosing a venue, a cake, a dress and much, much more!
We recently purchased our cake through Just Desserts out of OBX (Outer Banks, NC). We decided on an eclair cake! It’s layered vanilla cake with vanilla custard and chocolate ganache — need I say more!!!!!
I am so excited. And I cannot wait till the Big Day!
We have many months of fun planning ahead. What is next? Well, we have many of our vendors booked, including my amazing wedding coordinator, Carolyn Cox, who runs Signature Weddings. She has been amazing so far! I honestly recommend, for anyone getting married, that if it’s in the budget, you should hire a wedding coordinator. It truly is the best. They know a thing or two about local vendors, and the industry! It also removes a lot of the wedding planning stress. And, on the day of, they make sure everything is taken care of.
So, I will keep all of you posted on new developments as the months go by and as the date gets closer and closer.
I’m so excited to be a bride!
