Ode to the Snoogle Pregnancy Pillow

Are you familiar with the awesomeness that is the Snoogle pregnancy pillow?

The Snoogle is a wonderful body pillow that my husband calls “the imposter.” 🙂

I love it so much!

Even when I was in my first trimester and now showing yet, I still made sure to get my hands on one of them. It’s just so great.

I am a bit on the uncomfortable side right now, and I am unfortunately a belly sleeper, so the Snoogle is helping me to sleep on my side more.

It’s cushy, soft, and can be shaped in a multitude of different ways!

I know my constant hugging of the Snoogle body pillow, with my legs wrapping and moving around, along with the kicking off of the sheets and comforter — because I feel hot, then cold, then hot again — can get tiresome while sleeping next to me. But, this is what my husband has to put up with lately.

I will say, the first few weeks after we found out we were pregnant were a roller coaster of true emotion. Like, wow. We are going to be parents. Oh, wow! What about a budget?!?!!! Kids are expensive! We have a foundation and gutters to fix on our house on top of this kid coming, too? How do we plan on doing all this?! Oh, wow. We are going to be parents!!!!!!!!

Then, the joy set in — the excitement, the tears, the fear, the morning nausea, and the boobs hurting!

Then, it started to really sink in. Like, when I put on my favorite pair of skinny jeans and they wouldn’t button!

The first few weeks were also weird thinking, I am growing a human inside me.

I craved, and still am craving, blueberries and spicy food — hot sauce, mainly. Not together, of course, but they are my top two.

Pregnancy is crazy and different for every woman. So many people tell you to keep it so hush hush, and not to tell anyone till after 12 weeks. Or, until after the first trimester. We didn’t really follow that because some of our very close friends guessed it because I wasn’t drinking when we went out. We also wanted to tell very close family right away, like my mom, sister, and Billy’s parents. They all were so excited.

There are so many forums, so much advice, so many things you can Google, and so many rights and wrongs. My advice is: do what is best for you.

I have been eating well, and have avoided any and all processed sugar. I am doing this to try and prevent putting on any extra weight. I am also drinking a lot of water and have upped my protein intake.

Try your best to stay positive. The first trimester is scary, overwhelming, and can be hard since you can’t tell the world for a while. Stay positive, eat healthy, and get a Snoogle! I promise, your life will change! Just note: you may have a husband who considers it an unwelcome guest in bed. But, if you are pregnant and going through all that pregnancy hands you, grab one and say, “Babe, I love you, but I need sleep!”
