College Snacks: “Nutty Mix” Trail Mix Recipe
Did you know today is National Trail Mix Day?
I love to assemble different varieties of trail mix for easy and healthy grab-and-go snacks. I buy different nuts and treats and create different mixes to keep things interesting.
One of my favorite mixes, which you can find in Kitchenability 101: The College Student’s Guide to Easy, Healthy and Delicious Food, has been dubbed “Nutty Mix.” I’ve included the recipe below. It’s super easy to mix up, toss in your bag and head off to class.
You can also find other quick study break snacks in my book, including my recipe for Ants on a Snow Hill (see book) and my Strawberry-Banana Smoothie.
- 4 Tbsp roasted or salted almonds
- 4 Tbsp roasted or salted peanuts
- 4 Tbsp chocolate chips
- 4 Tbsp dried cranberries
- Mix all ingredients in a bowl or plastic bag and enjoy!
What are some of your favorite trail mix ingredients? Do you have any other favorite healthy snacks? I’d love to hear from you!

Hi Nisa!
Thanks for providing the easy recipe. Some other things I like to include are:
- M&Ms
- Sunflower Seeds
- Pumpkin Seeds
- Honey Roasted Peanuts
I love putting Wasabi peas in homemade trail mixes. They are especially perfect if you have roommates who like to steal your food 😛 Thanks for the recipes 🙂
Thanks,
Dave
