The Most Outrageous Ballpark Food
April marks the beginning of one of America’s favorite past-times: Baseball! And along with the kick-off of baseball season comes the kick-off of the consumption of the crazy, caloric ballpark food found in various stadiums across the country.
I decided to do a bit of research to find some of the most outrageous ballpark food out there, and here’s what I found:
Ordering the Supreme Helmet Nachos at Marlins Park, home of the Miami Marlins, gets you a batting helmet filled with nachos. That’s chips. That’s cheese. That’s chili. That’s jalapenos. All in a helmet (albeit novelty sized).
Then, there’s “The Hammer” at Turner Field, home of the Atlanta Braves. The Hammer consists of a fried chicken breast topped with bacon, cheese, onions, pecan-maple mayonnaise and served between two waffles. It’s a chicken-and-waffles combo meal at its best (or worst).
At Nationals Park, home of the Washington Nationals, there’s The StrasBurger, which is an 8 pound burger that costs $59 and is reportedly roughly 10,000 calories. Yep, that’s right. EIGHT POUNDS OF BURGER. The 8 pounds of meat consists of ground brisket, chuck and short ribs. Add some toppings and put it in between two giant buns and you’ve got dinner for an army. It also comes with a mound of fries and a pitcher of soda.
Competing with the Biggest Burger Ever is the Biggest Hot Dog Ever, served up at The Rangers Ballpark, home of the Texas Rangers. It’s a $26 hot dog called The Boomstick that’s two-feet long and comes topped with chili and sauteed onions.
Is all of this making you hungry for some baseball? What’s your favorite thing to order at your local stadium?
