Appreciating the Little Things in Marriage

I wanted to write a little piece on the little things that make us happy, and how it makes us very appreciative.

As many of you know, I am a newlywed. I am about 5 months into my marriage. One thing in particular that my husband does that makes me so grateful is the dishes every night — without question. It’s truly a dream I found a man who is the best dish washer around. And, ladies, I promise I am not giving him up anytime soon. Sorry. It is one thing he does in our marriage that I am truly grateful for.

I am also grateful for when, on occasion, he tidies up the living room, including fixing the pillows and slipcovers. It doesn’t happen all the time, but when it does, I jump for joy inside. I let out a sigh of relief that it is one less thing I have to do.

I will tell you that after spending seven and a half years together, and going into our first year of marriage, I have learned to appreciate the little things more. We have been together since I was 15 going on 16, and as we have grown together, I have learned to find love in all the little things.

Now, don’t get me wrong, he drives me nuts sometimes. But, it’s all about finding love in the little things. Those are the things that make you happy. And I will tell you that when I see my husband washing those dishes, and he smiles at me, it’s one of my favorites.

What are some of the “little things” in life that make you smile?
