I decided to take a look back at all of the recipes I’ve been concocting over the past year or so and highlight some of my favorites for you.

1. Parmesan Meatloaf Recipe with Sweet BBQ Sauce Glaze: This recipe surprised me because I hadn’t made meatloaf in quite a while, so I was a bit intimidated at first. But, it was DELICIOUS and has quickly become a new favorite.

2. Bananas Foster: You can’t go wrong with Bananas Foster! It’s a favorite dessert year-round. (more…)

August is National Peach Month, so I decided to concoct a peach dessert experiment recently to celebrate.

What I came up with was this: Whiskey Peaches with Brown Sugar & Honey Ice Cream. I blended some peaches into the ice cream itself, and then saved some of the marinated slices to add as a garnish. Delicious!

It’s National Blueberry Month! Well, it is for another week anyway.

But, blueberries are in season all summer long, so it’s a good time to be thinking about how you can incorporate them into as many recipes as possible.

I’ve already blogged about several recipes that feature the nutritionally beneficial blueberry:

Super Blueberry Smoothie Recipe: Blueberries are an excellent antioxidant and a great addition to almost any morning meal. If I’m not sprinkling them on top of my oatmeal, I’m blending them up into a breakfast smoothie, like this one. (more…)

greek yogurt ice cream

I originally posted this recipe in February, but thought I’d repost since nothing hits the spot on a hot summer day like a cool scoop of ice cream. And, July is National Ice Cream month!

This is my incredibly simple and easy to make recipe for what I like to call Hot Chocolate Greek Yogurt Ice Cream.

It’s a lot healthier than your typical ice cream recipe, since it’s made with yogurt instead of cream and sugar. So, it’s one your waist line will thank you for — and, it tastes just as good! (more…)

Simple Dessert: Healthy Milkshake Recipe

Friday, May 17th, 2013

This healthy milkshake recipe is the perfect remedy for those late-night milkshake cravings (we all have those, right?).

It sort of falls somewhere between a smoothie and a milkshake on the “healthy” spectrum. But, even without all of the added fat, it still satisfied my sweet tooth.

Isn’t it pretty?

I used low-fat milk in the recipe below, but you can reduce the fat and calories even more by using non-fat milk.

One of the best parts of the entire experience is when one of the tiny chunks of dark chocolate makes it up the straw. Yum!

Do you make your own milkshakes at home? If so, what are some of your favorite blends? I’d love to hear from you!
