I started Saturday off at the SFC Farmer’s Market - Sunset Valley with a cooking demo and sample giveaway. I was able to shop for all of my fresh ingredients at the market, and I whipped up my Roma Tomatoes with Feta & Basil appetizer from Kitchenability 101. It was a great event and many loved the Kitchenability concept.
After the farmers’ market, we headed to Gordoughs for a quick lunch before my Central Market cooking class. All of the menu items are served on a doughnut at Gordoughs. Most of the doughnuts used on sandwiches are savory not sweet — very interesting concept.
At the Central Market, the volunteers and staff really helped put together my cooking class by prepping and making sure all went smoothly. It was a 2-hour class and we learned to make four of my favorite Kitchenability dishes:
- Roma Tomatoes with Feta & Basil;
- Strawberry & Goat Cheese Salad with Herb Garden Vinaigrette;
- Lemon Cilantro Chicken; and
- Nana’s Peanut Butter Pie.
It went very well, and I was truly touched by all who came out to take my class. I had so much fun.
That night, we stopped by the food truck East Side King. The food was absolutely delicious, and it was a great way to end my trip in beautiful Austin, TX.
The next day, I packed up my things and headed back home to Virgina Beach.
Fast forward to the Atlanta airport, where I was catching a connecting flight home, and who did I happen to run into? Hulk Hogan! Crazy, right?!?
I said, “Heyyy, loved your show.”
He said, “Oh, American Gladiator?”
I said, “yeahhhh???”
(I was actually talking about his crazy family reality show a few years back.) Ah, well. I walked away and giggled. The memories.
