Life gets crazy, especially when you run a business, and taking time for yourself is important. So, when you get time for yourself it’s important to maximize that time with as much relaxation and rejuvenation as possible. This week, I invite you to try incorporating the following foods into your diet to aid your relaxation. Let me know the results!
Honey
Honey has potassium in it, which has a soothing effect on the brain and nerves. Potassium works against stress hormones to relax the nervous system. Check out my roundup of 12 honey recipes!
Brown Rice
Brown rice is a complex carbohydrate that releases insulin, which in turn produces sleep-inducing amino acids that contribute to making serotonin and melatonin. The result is a nice sound sleep, and feeling more relaxed and calm.
Tea
Tea has been used as a relaxant throughout the world for a long time. Some herbal teas known to reduce stress and anxiety and help relax the body are basil, lemon balm, and chamomile.
Peanut Butter
Peanut butter has the amino acid trytophan and vitamin B6, which helps increase serotonin levels in the brain, resulting in reduced anxiety and improved mood. Try buying quality organic peanut butter to get the best results! You can also try a few of my great recipes that include peanut butter, like my Banana Cinnamon Waffles or my Easy Nutella Peanut Butter Truffles.
